Our mindset determines how we handle challenges and successes we come upon in life.  This is a topic we talk about a lot with Joe, because we can see how our mindset affects our everyday life and therefore, we’ve wanted to learn and try out all these different amazing techniques. We’ve listed a few ways to start your mindset training for the life adventure.

Book

Mindset by Dr Carol S. Dweck

In her book she describes the fixed mindset and the growth mindset and why we should practise the latter. Do you believe in fixed qualities? I’m not good at maths? Or I’m not good at sports? Or people never change? She argues that we as a society have a negative connotation with effort and work, and talent is praised. However, the effort and the work you put in determine what your strengths, weaknesses and the relationships you have.

Audio book

The Subtle art of not giving a f*ck by Mark Manson

This book takes a different approach to conventional self-help books. He urges us to stop focusing our precious time on all the unnecessary things, that get us worked-up for nothing. In simple terms his message is: choose your battles, and don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s not worth your time.

Audio

The Edge by Anthony Robbins

Tony Robbins is regarded one of the greatest life and mindset coaches of our time, and you can listen to his fast paced CD packed with a lot of info on Spotify. In his programs he teaches us “Our life experience is the sum of the emotions we feel on a day-to-day basis.” And luckily, we can change our emotions in an instant by altering the way we move, what we say and our focus. For him personal change starts by telling the truth to yourself.

Film

Peaceful Warrior

This film is based on a book by Dan Millan, an aspiring gymnast who encounters a life altering challenge, which will make him rethink his whole life. The film is packed with very important life lessons of growth and mindset, which you can apply to your everyday life.

App

Headspace

Finding peace with your thoughts can be hard at times and you’ve probably heard that meditation is supposed to be good for you. Headspace teaches you how to meditate in a very simple and easy way, so that you feel like you are really learning in the process.

Workshops

Goal Mapping

I personally have had the privilege to attend amazing mindset and goal setting workshops, thanks to my mother’s enthusiasm and I would recommend them all. However, a goal mapping workshop is good for a beginner as it explains the science behind how the mindset works as well as gives concrete tools on how to achieve your goals. I’m a bit biased as I teach this method, but I’ll give you a better glimpse of it in another post.

Relaxation

Nature

We all need to take some time to relax. There are numerous studies showing, that just by being out in nature has a calming effect on the mind and body. It doesn’t have to be far away in the wilderness, just a few minutes looking at a tree waiving in the breeze in the park. We hope you give your mind some time to relax as well.
